The Lord inspires Paul to write and say:”And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man’s wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power:”
In today’s realm of preaching and teaching we find that there are more entertainers rather than Holy Ghost filled preachers.
From today’s verse we see that the Apostle Paul dealt with those who were preaching “feel good” messages that only enticed the ears of people rather than freeing them from their soul ties and spirits that hold them captive. Growing up in the church I would always hear people ask, “What did the preacher preach about today?” Someone would say, “I don’t know but he “shoal” did preach (excuse my slang with “shoal”)! what did that person gain from alot of shouting and whooping. NOTHING but an emotional feel good message without any demonstration of Spirit and Power. Now im not saying that the Spirit of God wont overtake while you preach or teach, but our motives should be pure.
So what should one be preaching from the pulpit? Paul basically said that he preached what he knew, Jesus and Him being crucified! There is Power in Christ in alone and not in how great you can translate various biblical words and even tune up the words accompanied by an organist. When we ask God to use us we do not have to worry about what we will say because God’s Spirit and Power will show up. We just have to be a willing broken vessel. Be blessed my brothers and sisters in Christ!
